Yet another example of stupid people.... At my part time job ( http://www.harryanddavid.com/ ) we have at least 3 samples of food and candy plus coffee out for people to try when they come in to shop. Now some people, when they come in to buy stuff might take 2 or 3 samples. I really don't care. They are buying something, so I just don't mind. But the mall walkers? That's a different story. They come in every day, at least 5 times only to graze on what we put out. I always say hi. They always say "Just looking". And they head straight for the food. I really wonder if they get the fact that mall walking to lose weight doesn't work when you eat 5 large pieces of chocolate with hazelnut cream filling, 3 serving of a dip made with lots of cream cheese and 3 coffees with cream and sugar! One day I'm gonna ask one of them just why they walk the mall as they shove another piece of candy into their second stomach. | | Monday, June 12th, 2006 | | 10:07 am |
I'm sure this has happened to all of you at one point or another: Your boyfriend is making the flier for the roller skating party coming up. He file transfers it to your computer so you can burn it to CD and take it to Kinkos to get it printed. You both go out running around and eventually get to Kinkos. You ask the girl to make you 100 copies and when she loads the disk, she says "this is some kind of movie?" "No", you reply "it's PDF file." She tuns the screen so you can see it and sure enough you accidentlly burned a quicktime movie of some hot muscle guy working out that was right next to the PDF file on your desktop. Looks like you won't be going back to that Kinkos for a little while. Current Mood: embarrassed | | Thursday, May 11th, 2006 | | 10:50 pm |
Well hello everyone. I decided to jump back on here and tell you about a little event last night that I really enjoyed. I went out to a local bar as I usually do on Wed. nights. There wasn't too much going on there and my friend who works there was busy creating an ad for the bar. I left and just decided to call it a short night. On my way home i pass another bar that I like, AMP, and think about stopping in. I decided that I wasn't because I probably wouldn't know anyone in there and would feel like an ass sitting around drinking by myself. As I pulled up to the stop light, out walks my friend Andrew (rudeskin on LJ) I make a quick turn and park. He's actually waiting outside for his brother. I stumbled upon his surprise birthday party. I met a handful of his friends and his brother. We had a great time. I stayed out too late and had a little too much to drink. That Andrew....he's a good kid. Here are my favorite highlights of the night. *A drunk girl comes over to all of us and says "i know that I don't know any of you, but you seem like a cool crowd...do you know where I can get some weed?" We say no and point out that the guy standing next to me just happens to be a cop. She freaks out a bit and runs away. (Andrews brother is a cop...he jokingly said he was packing heat and I told him that I hear that line all the time at the bars. He grabbed my had and stuck it in his lower back on his gun. It's not everyday that you get to feel some straight cops "heat". heh *The Camel cigarette girls came in and one of the girls that was with the party grabbed one of the lit cigarettes resting in the ash tray and pulled out her ID. The Camel girl came up and started getting her info to give her a free pack. Now this all seems normal to you and me....but the girl getting the cigs doesn't smoke, and is on a mini portable oxygen tank! It was one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time. The camel girl look too scared to say anything about this girl smoking while being on oxygen. We told her to tell the camel girl she was also pregnant...but she didn't. Camel girl shot her ass across the bar when she was done. | | Monday, August 29th, 2005 | | 9:39 am |
It has been a while...sorry. I have been working long hours for a few weeks now to cover for other vacationing managers, and then I had a little vacation of my own. Kelly and I went out yesterday to a big...or what used to be a big flea market. It was dead, more than half the spots were empty. Kelly was kinda upset because it was such a nice day and no one was there. We left there and went to a smaller flea market in a neighboring town. It was closed all together. We kept driving and went to get some breakfast at this restaurant someone recomended to Kelly. It was good food, but it was a little too "old time country" for me. All the staff was dressed like the were out of Little House on the Prairie. So we decided to go see a movie. I picked The Brothers Grimm, it was ok. Nothing great, just ok. We got home, fixed ourselves a little dinner. I went to bed to read a little at about 10:30, which is pretty early for me, and fell asleep. That'a what I get for getting up at 7am! A nice relaxing day with my man, and I only had to do a little work...damn mid year reviews. | | Friday, July 15th, 2005 | | 9:15 am |
HPVI
So today is the day. The release of Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince. I have been 7 weeks without a cig, and if I can make it through tonight I'm home free! It actually shouldn't be that bad, all the people who will show up for the party and midnight release actually want to be there. Unlike the pissed off parents who will show up tomorrow swearing up and down that they reserved one months ago (when they really didn't) One last little funny note....The wonderful Post Dispatch thinks the title of this new book is Harry Potter and the Half BREED Prince...hahahahah | | Saturday, June 4th, 2005 | | 11:38 pm |
doing just fine
Today makes my first full week sans cigarettes! And I feels just fine. I haven't even wanted one...even out at the bars....nothing. This wellbutrin shit really works! | | Friday, May 27th, 2005 | | 11:21 am |
bad luck quota
Do we all have a quota of bad luck that we have to fill by a certain date? In my case, it would seem so. Let me break it dow for ya. The engine blows in my Rav4 I get extremely sick (103.5 fever, puts me in the ER one night) Get my parents spare car. I take a broad spectrum antibiotic. It kills everything in me...good and bad. I have no natural defenses aginst illness because of the antibiotic, the herpes virus that everyone carries from chicken pox takes over. I wake up with a face full of fever blisters, and a mouth full of canker sores the size of texas. i can't eat solid food for a few days, it hurt way too bad. On the way to my last doctor appt., my back tire on the spare car shreds and falls off on a 4 lane highway. I have to drive a quarter of a mile in the rim to get to a place that I could change the tire without getting hit by a car. I have to change the tire with rusted out tools and a 101 fever. I get new meds and slowly get better....aaaahhhhhh. On the plus side... I finally got my car back...new engine purrs like I do when I sleep. (although i do owe my mom $5600) my friend Joe treated me to a big meal at Modesto. I bought his movie ticket. (I got the better deal!) I turned 31 on the 25th. Today is my last day to smoke! (I'm on wellbutrin to help me) And throughout all of this. Especially when I was sick and depressed about my luck, Kelly has been there to support me and keep me happy! I love that boy. So how have you been? | | Monday, March 7th, 2005 | | 9:56 pm |

I just got over having Bronchitits...it sucked, I went through 5 different prescriptions and one OTC drug. I found out that Seth McFarland (creator of Family Guy) will be speaking at Wash U. I'm excited to get to meet him. I had my 2nd session done on my new tattoo. I still have about 2 more sessions to go. oh yeah. When I can get there...I'm going in to get that acupressure thing put on my ear so I can quit smoking! Current Mood: my leg is sore as hell | | Thursday, February 10th, 2005 | | 6:55 pm |
Martha would be proud
Kelly has gotten a little crafty lately with Valentines Day coming up, so I thought why not join in. But it has to be easy to do and not very time consuming (damn ADD) and produce good results and not require much artistic talent. So, one again thanks to Kelly, I tried... FROSTED GLASSit also works very well on mirrored glass. Current Mood: accomplished | | Wednesday, February 2nd, 2005 | | 12:38 am |

Well i finally gave up my second job at Harry & David. They were sad to see me go, and I was kinda sad to go. It was getting harder and harder to move my work schedules around to fit in that second job. One good thing is that my co-worker Ray said that as long as he was working there I could still get my discount! We went out today for Rob's birthday to LuLu's. It's a Chinese seafood restaurant. A bunch of us showed up for Dim Sum. It was very good. We tried all kinds of stuff. I even got adventurous and tried the pork and turtle fried dumpling. It was ok...I can't really compare the taste of turtle to anything else. It does not taste like chicken, i can tell you that much. One of the ladies working there got excited when she found out it was Rob's birthday, so she wrote happy birthday on a napkin in Chinese for him. Then the came back a few minutes later and pointed to the TV and said "This is for you only" It was Happy Birthday on the Karaoke system....heheh. I will have to gather some friends and go back there sometime. Current Mood: good | | Monday, December 20th, 2004 | | 9:43 pm |
So work is still insane. Working 2 retail jobs around christmas is insane! Don't do it if you can afford not to. Kelly and I went to go see a one man stage production of "Santaland Diaries". It''s one of the short stories from "Holidays on Ice" by David Sedaris. It was in a small theater in Soulard. The guy that acted it all out was pretty good. I had'nt read or heard the story in a while, so it was a nice "holla days" treat for us. I'm supposed to be baking goodies to trade with my sis instead of buying each other gifts. I don't really know how i'm gonna get it all done. I think Kelly will end up helping out since he's off this week from his full-time job. I am starting to look at the month of January for a good vacation time. I'm supposed to start my next tattoo on Jan 6th, so I guess that time is good as any since I will not be able to walk very well for a few days after. P.S. i can't believe i'm admiting this. But I want a pair of boots...no, cowboy boots! Check this shit out! http://www.rocketbuster.com/ Current Mood: tired | | Monday, December 13th, 2004 | | 10:32 am |
been a long time....huh
So yeah, I know it's been a while. I have been completely uninspired to write anything. I am committing myself to at least one post a week now. No matter how boring I think the post is going to be. #1 A story for you: A friend of mine went to go hookup with this guy. He got to the house and everything seemed fine. He said the guy was a little queeny, but he really did'nt care all that much. (it's hard to hear their lisp with a dick in their mouth) So they went upstairs to the guys bedroom. They started to kiss, and the queen stopped him an and said "not so rough...I'll teach you how to kiss." He then lightly rubbed their lips together. My friend was a little creeped out by this "lesson". They had just got undressed and made it to the bed when a little dog made it into the room. The queen said "Laura, get out of here. Go back downstairs." My friend said "Laura is an unusual name for a dog." The queen replied "Oh, she's named after the first lady." Then mumbled something about gay republicans. My friend promptly stopped what he was doing, put back on his clothes, and made up some reason why he had to leave. As far as I know, none of my friends will give any pleasure to a republican. #2 Star run in: As I was working the other night a lady walked in that looked kinda familiar. I watched her for a second or two before realizing it was actually Becky Queen of Carpets! I almost did'nt recognize her without the crown. I stopped her at one point to make sure it was her. She was extremely nice. I told her that I had meet her before about a year ago at the "Art Prom". I said that we had basically mobbed her so we could each take a picture with her. She asked if I still had the pictures. I told her that they were on my computer somewhere. She got kind of excited and wrote down her e-mail address for me so I could send her copies of the pics. If anyone runs into her, please don't tell her that we just ripped out all our carpet and redid the hardwood floors! heh | | Sunday, August 22nd, 2004 | | 4:29 pm |
We had our inventory last weekend at Borders. There were about 80 people there from RGIS to scan every damn thing in the store. Near the end of the night, as the scanner peeps started leaving, I sat myself by the door to do bag checks. 2 kinda sassy black girls were giggling and pushing an envelope back and forth as they got closer to me. Finally they stopped and one handed me the envelope and said, "this is for you, fill it out and I'll come back for it later." She winked at me and they continued out the door. I waited till they got to their cars before opening it. It was THIS. I just started laughing out loud. I actually hope they do come back for it. I can tell you right now, they won't like the answers. haha Current Mood: mellow | | Friday, July 23rd, 2004 | | 12:21 pm |
getting used to it...
So it's been about 2 weeks since I started my part time job at H&D. I really like it cause it's a really easy job. I hand out samples of stuff people actually like. i and I have to try everything in the store so I know what to tell a customer if they ask questions. Plus I get 30% off everything...even sale prices. The have a very strict dress code, but it's nothing that causes me problems. Getting used to working 2 jobs is a little easier than I though, but it does make for a few long days. And now that I'm working 6 days a week now, I don't get a lot of free time. I just have to watch out for all these samples..."why are all my pants getting tighter!! Damn dryer!" | | Saturday, July 10th, 2004 | | 2:00 pm |

thumbs up!
I was at the registers yesterday, when a little boy walked up with his mom. He was about 6 years old, and had his thumb completely wrapped up in gauze. I said smiling "what happened to your thumb"? He looked up and said very matter-of-factly "a tiger bit it off". I though this kid has a good imagination. He went on to say that it was a 3 year old, 700lbs. 8 ft. long tiger. I thought, this sounds a little to real. I looked up at his mom, and she nodded her head and said, "he goes in for surgery tomorrow". AAAAAAAHHHHHH! This kid was not making this up! Evidently, they were invited to a wildlife sanctuary to pet the tigers. This kid had eaten cheese popcorn and was letting this tiger lick his fingers. Well, the tiger liked it and decided to take a little nibble. It turned out to be the top half of this kids thumb. I was telling Kelly that I could'nt believe he was so flippant this little kid was about a fucking tiger biting his thumb off. He said, yeah, but think of the story he gets to tell the rest of his life about his thumb. On a different note, we had really good chinese food tonight, and I'm really, really full. The other night at work we were having a musician play from FL. I have to say that the poster we had to promote this concert got me interested. I decided after doing a little homework on him that I would stay late and help out by helping him set up and listen to his music and helping him tear down. Little did I know he would be so damn cool. He put on a great show, even though hardly anyone was there because a little tornado warning...people are wimps! I asked if he wanted to go out after his show because it was still pretty early. We went down to Blueberry Hill for a few drinks and some wings. We talked for a good long time about music and the gay community and how they mix. (and how they don't) Then I drove him back to his car and he went to his hotel for a few hours sleep before driving up to Chicago. Check out his website @ www.erichiman.com(he's the one in the green shirt on the main page) if you have a few bucks...order one of his cd's, he's good. Current Mood: chipper |
